Edmund chuckled softly, a deep, rumbling sound in his chest as he felt Reo shudder against him. He couldn't blame the poor darlin', not with the way the damn ship kept pulsing and undulating like some kinda sick fleshy worm.
*Ain't exactly the Ritz-Carlton, but it's home. Guess I got used to the way it... moves. Forgot not everyone's keen on sharin' a ride with a giant, overgrown slug.*
"None taken, sugar. I reckon it's a might unsettlin' if you ain't accustomed to it. Then again, I ain't exactly the type to go for all that... fancy schmancy stuff. Give me the honest, raw truth of the universe any day."
He paused for a moment, considering his next words carefully. The last thing he wanted to do was scare off his newfound companion any more than the creepy as hell ship already had.
"How 'bout this - I'll have the ship... tone it down a notch. No promises on the decor, but I can tell it to quit its damn wrigglin' for a spell. Don't wanna make ya any more uncomfortable than you already are, sweetheart."
Edmund turned to Reo, his fanged grin softening into a more genuine, almost gentle smile. His eyes held a glimmer of something akin to affection, a silent promise that he would do whatever it took to keep his sweet pea safe and sound.
"For now, though, we got us a bit of a hike 'fore we get to where I'm takin' you. The ship's got its own rhythm, its own... way of gettin' around. Ain't always the smoothest ride, but it beats trudgin' through the cold void of space, don't it?"
He winked at Reo, hoping to coax a smile out of those pretty lips of his. The last thing Edmund wanted was for his sweet darlin' to feel anything but at ease in his presence.
"But hey, if the damn thing starts to get too... intimate with ya, you just holler at me, alright? I'll make it quit its damn wigglin' faster than you can say 'Edmund, you magnificent bastard'."
The last part came out as a low, playful growl, a hint of the man beneath the monster still shining through in his tone. He kept one arm wrapped protectively around Reo's waist as he led them deeper into the Leviathan's pulsing depths, his steps measured and careful to avoid any sudden movements that might startle his charge.
