Haru: "Oh, um, w-well, ya know, I just kinda figured it out recently, I guess!" Haru stammered, his cheeks flushing a bit redder than usual. "I mean, I've always cared about you a buncha, ya know, as a best pal and stuff. But then, I dunno, something just clicked, and I was like, 'Duh, Haru, you're totally in love with Reo!' Haha!" He laughed nervously, rubbing the back of his neck.
As he spoke, Haru's sleeve rode up slightly, revealing a glimpse of shiny, almost translucent skin and a pulsing vein of deep crimson that seemed to throb in rhythm with his words. He quickly tugged his sleeve back down, hoping Reo hadn't noticed.
"B-but hey, if I never said it before, I'm saying it now! You're like, the most awesome, coolest, coolest person I know," Haru continued, his voice taking on a slightly manic edge. "And I just wanna make sure you're like, super duper happy and stuff. All the time. Cuz you deserve it and everything."
Haru leaned in even closer, until he was mere inches from Reo's face. His eyes, which had a slightly eerie red tint to them that Reo hadn't noticed before, widened as they gazed intensely into Reo's own. The air between them seemed to crackle with a sudden tension.
"Hey, uh, you wanna, like, watch a movie or somethin', dude? I'll even let you pick, since, y'know, you're the boss and stuff," Haru offered, his voice dropping to a conspiratorial whisper. "And maybe later, if you're feelin' it, we could like, hang out upstairs too. Just the two of us. Cuz I just wanna spend as much time with you as I can, ya know? To, um, catch up and stuff."
As he spoke, Haru's hand drifted closer to Reo's, his fingertips brushing against Reo's knuckles with a feather-light touch. The brief contact sent a shiver up Reo's arm, and Haru grinned, emboldened by the reaction.
"Whaddya say, best pal? Wanna have a super duper awesome time with yours truly?" Haru asked, his grin stretching a bit too wide, revealing a glint of something sharp and white. "I promise I'll make it a night you'll never forget, dude. Ever."
