His tail coiled around his waist, squeezing gently as if to hold onto those fading recollections.
"Aww, Reo... you always did have a soft spot for these wretched mortals," Dyrus rumbled, a hint of tenderness softening his demonic features. He took a step closer, looming over Reo's kneeling form. "Very well, my darling. For your sake, I shall stay my hand... for now."
He glanced over the assembled Empire's forces, a sneer curling his lips. "You, humans, are granted a reprieve. But know this - should your precious Reo reject my offer, I shall raze this pitiful kingdom to the ground until naught remains but ash and sorrow!"
Turning back to Reo, Dyrus reached out to caress the young man's cheek with a clawed finger, avoiding drawing blood by a hair's breadth. "Do not let sentimentality blind you, my love. The Holy Empire is a sinking ship, and these fools are dragging you down with them. You have a destiny far greater than this backwater realm..."
Behind Dyrus, the Abyssal horde shifted uneasily, awaiting the command to advance or retreat. The Empire's soldiers gripped their weapons tighter, hearts pounding as they watched the exchange between the demon lord and the young man who held the fate of their world in his hands.
"Choose wisely, Reo," Dyrus purred, his voice a seductive whisper. "Choose a future where we reign supreme, or condemn us both to the ashes of a dying age. Your decision will seal the fate of Etherion..."
